  • Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul. Originally built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is the largest and greatest of Seoulโ€™s Five Grand Palaces. Burned down during the Japanese invasion of 1592, it was reconstructed in 1867. Today, the palace grounds, filled with lotus ponds, gardens, and ornate statues, offer a lovely place to spend the afternoon. Donโ€™t miss the Throne Hall, the Royal Banquet Hall, and Hyangwonjeong, a two-story pavilion on a small island in the center of a pond. And remember to stand under the palace roof and look upโ€”youโ€™ll be dazzled by the intricate patterns of red, blue, and green painted on the eaves. Such a very beautiful and instagrammable spot isn't it? Follow and Share to build our South Korea lover community :) I make this pages to share the landscape beautiful spot of Korea and make community of same interest,ย We might travel together someday :)

  • Sometimes it feels like Iโ€™ve been in Korea so long, Iโ€™m pretty much lost when it comes to slang or phrases we use back home. Today I was thinking about the concept of โ€œhealingโ€ and how Koreans use this term when you do things to heal your soul like relaxing at a quiet cafรฉ or taking a daytrip to the countryside or the ocean. Iโ€™m not entirely sure if we use the word in the same manner back home? Does anyone know? Haha. โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” This weekend was a weekend of healing for me. I keep trying to get myself into a healthy routine, keeping my mind and thoughts positive, but I keep slipping back into feelings of failure, guilt, and sadness. Being around my in laws and San this weekend really helped me heal and get back a little of myself. We went on a hike around the mountains near the house, got lost on a new trail, and drank a lot of tea. I felt tired and happy and like I had a purpose. A part of my soul felt healed. โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Thatโ€™s not to say that all of my feelings disappeared. Iโ€™m still struggling. Itโ€™s not even like Iโ€™m in one of those rooms in that hallway I spoke about on a previous post. Itโ€™s more like Iโ€™m in an empty room where thereโ€™s nothing and then Iโ€™ll feel guilty for there being nothing. Depression and anxiety are always difficult to explain to people who havenโ€™t experienced them, but theyโ€™re real, confusing, and often contradictory feelings. And thatโ€™s okay. The point is that Iโ€™m trying, Iโ€™m not giving up, and Iโ€™m going to continue taking as many healing moments as I need until Iโ€™m back to being myself. . . . . . . #dametraveler #girlslovetravel #imagineyourkorea #koreanlife #lifeinkorea #koreabyme #travelkorea #ganghwaisland #ganghwa #travelgram #visitkorea #seoulkorea #iseoulu #iseoulyou #discoverkorea #discoverseoul #lifestyleblogger #fashiongals #thatauthenticfeeling #koreanarchitecture

  • โฃ[Kalguksu at Gwangjang Market ใ…ก Jongno District, Seoul, Korea]: Among the calls of unyielding food vendors beckoning you to their tables, the clinking of soju glasses, and the post-work conversations had over them, you could hear each food cluster's unique soundtrack (like the sound of millstones grinding mung beans and the hiss of batter hitting hot oil in the Bindaeddeok Alley). After surveying all that the Food Alley had to offer, we still weren't sure what to eat, but a woman called us to her island of steaming dumplings, where she was cutting noodles out of dough with a knife. We had been cold, hungry, and looking for something "soupy" to eat, so we accepted her invite and ordered a bowl of kalguksu to share. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € As we waited for our noodles, we had a prime view of a spectacular one-woman show. Our host worked the dough to crank out noodles (sometimes "dough flakes" for sujebi) which she'd throw in the boiling water for a few minutes during which she'd cook more batches of dumplings and replenish customers' kimchi upon request with smiles. The sound of a blade cutting through dough and just grazing the cutting board and the subtle snap of the dough being pulled apart were two of my favorite sounds growing up in Flushing with my grandma, who'd often generate a floury storm in the living room to make a month's worth of dumplings from scratch. Dozens of dumplings would take up the entire freezer and had to be eaten for weeks in various ways. The dough left over from her dumpling project would always be used to make kalguksu or sujebi. Our large, steaming bowl of kalguksu arrived topped with squash, seaweed flakes and a heap of black pepper. Its aroma was quite prominent, but the black pepper did not overpower the broth's deep anchovy flavor; it gave the soup a bold edge. Unbothered by the cold (partially thanks to the heated bench), we slurped away at the chewy noodles and deeply satisfying soup until we were too full to even consider eating anything (other than dessert) after. Dak-hanmari had to wait another day. ๐ŸŠFull post link in bio๐ŸŠ

The Pig is twelfth in the group of twelve animal guardian deities collectively known as the Sibijisin, meaning "Twelve (sibi) Gods of the Earth (jisin).โ€ Each year is marked by a jisin; since there are twelve jisins, the cycle repeats every 12 years. • (K) Iโ€™d been eyeing Cafe Gusttimo since my first day in Korea, yet never made the effort to go in. The chance finally came around after Christmas, and boy was it overdue! It had the perfect atmosphere to warm you up on a cold night, and some of the best drinks weโ€™d had in weeks. The matcha was freshest Iโ€™ve ever tasted ๐Ÿต The staff was also overwhelmingly kind, and even brought us some service tea to finish off our visit! It grew quite busy towards the end of the night, proving that quality draws business ๐Ÿฌ Iโ€™m happy to have found another go-to place close to home. And it doubles as an authentic gelato cafe if the craving ever strikes
