  • Untouched alpine lakes & endless layers of jagged peaks stacked to the horizon high up in a remote region of Southwest Tasmania. In search of a real wilderness experience on a recent trip to Tasmania we pointed our compass west taking us into some of the wildest most dramatic parts of the country with enough time to fully immerse ourselves and enjoy those unexpected moments. What’s come to be one of my favourite places on the planet nothing could have prepared us to just how raw and remote this part of the world is. @tasmania #discovertasmania

  • It's crazy how different this lavender field looks during the day compared to sunrise and sunset, the rising and setting sun leaves the purple field looking a gorgeous bright shade of pink 👌🌷 . Cheers @yongi_olney for being a superb model, my question to you all is who has the better curves? The lavender or Yongi? 😉😂

  • These photos show some pieces of silk and cotton I eco dyed this week - the dark cotton fabrics were the iron blankets for the darkest piece of silk. All but the yellow silks were steamed for 2 hours after a vinegar/water presoak; the yellow came from a native cherry dye dyepot (simmered 3 hours). Layered with eucalyptus leaves (3 kinds), bracken fern, rose petals and/or onion skins; wrapped and tied around rusty iron or pvc pipe. These will be listed for sale soon at gonerustic.com (link in bio). #fabric #silk #cotton #ecodye #ecoprint #botanicalprint #plantdye #naturaldye #sewing #make #create #fashion #tasmania

  • Launceston's very own lager, here in time for @monaFoma ✌️ "Some say the recipe was found stapled to a pinboard out the back of Fitzies City Cafe when it shut down." "They're putting cup holders on the Gorge chairlift just for these." "The best Northern frothie since the Gorge last flooded." 😂😂 Brilliant work by @moobrewbrewery 🍻 . #Repost @stillwater_tas • • • • • Every great city needs its own longneck so @moobrewbrewery brewed a lager specifically for us here in Launceston. It’s massively sessionable, brewed using the pure waters of the Basin pool and launched just in time for Mona Foma. Get involved! 👊🏼🍺 . #launceston #tasmania #monafoma #launcestonlikealocal #lager #discovertasmania #editas #visittasmania

  • Tasmania Day 2, Cataract Gorge. Started the day with the famous scallop pie which is the best pie I've ever had. Then onto the gorge, amazing in so many ways. The scenery was great, animals and local people don't mind each other, and complete silence during the harp player's recital. Nothing but the birds chirping. #tasmania #peaceofmind

  • CARGO BAR PIZZA LOUNGE, SALAMANCA, HOBART: Our much awaited first meal back from 3 Capes Track after 3 nights away eating very basic food FOOD: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5: Underwhelming | Flavours were okay but base has to have been store bought, which isn’t what you expect from a place that specialises in pizzas! SERVICE: ⭐️⭐️⭐️️ / 5: Order and pay at bar as expected | Satisfactory service but nothing special ATMOSPHERE: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️️/ 5: Inside and outdoor seating | Outside had great atmosphere on Salamanca place | Inside was very dark #cargopizzalounge #pizza #wine #hobart #tasmania #salamanca #foodie #aussiefoodtrekkers

  • -TASMANIA- Tas was longggg! I think we spend a month here in total, visiting my family that live there. Doing this without a car was so so challenging (Ngl don’t go to tas if you don’t have a car/ hire a car). We started in Hobart and got ourselves into a bad headspace due to shit whether, a hostel that was dark and kinda depressing. But we did do some nice things too; we hiked up mount wellington, went to a local techno night, I saw my first wallaby, visited the salamanca markets, watched Merlin on Netflix because who doesn’t love a BBC fantasy drama. But the highlight of it all was visiting the MONA ( Museum of Old and New Art). A private collection of art that is so random but brilliant. The whole gallery basically takes the piss out of art, and it was just such an experience!(I uploaded the whole day to my insta stories, so big up if you saw that). We then went up to Launceston (the only other city in tas) Whilst here we went to a cataract gorge and saw seals! Made some peng and again watched too much Netflix. For Christmas we stayed with my family in northern Tasmania on their eco lodge! There is no phone signal and only 2gb of inter per day! It was remote, and so picturesque. Having a hot Xmas was so odd, and not my fave. I missed the cold, and how cosy my mum makes home ( plus all the foood). But it was so nice to see family and be so welcomed. For New Year’s Eve me and Maisie were volunteering at falls festival at Marion bay. I honestly had the best time here. I cannot express how much I loved the last few days of 2018. We were part of the loo crew so were cleaning the lovely compost loos( which was so easy and not at all gross- legit just stocking toilet paper!). I don’t even know how to explain it but the sense of community that the loo crew had was amazing, we felt like one big family. Feel so grateful and couldn’t have asked for a better way to end 2018 and bring in the new year. :) #solofemaletraveler #tasmania #hobart #launceston #fallsfestivalmarionbay
