7 hours of TLC that was fun to do. Days off eating some good food and cooking at home is my ideal. Simmering of the smoked pork hoc and then the kidney beans. Finished with seasonings and 3 different types of smoked sausages for this delicious bean and sausage stew called Grah. Creamy and slightly smoky is a definite way to over come this big chill that’s going to hit Toronto soon. It doesn’t photograph well but it tastes delicious.
The last of the pork belly. @conradqh made the best meal he’s done yet tonight! BBQ pork belly (GF BBQ sauce, tamari and ginger) with a fresh salad of sugar snaps, cucumber, radish, mint and chilli, and some jasmine rice 🤤 I went swimming at lunch today, and spinning tonight as I’ve been feeling a bit bloated and want to kick it. It could be the few bits of sugar and the large amount of alcohol I consumed over Christmas and NY catching up with me, but I’ve been really sensible since then sooooo 🤷🏻♀️ not going to stress though, will just continue to work out and try to eat slower, as that definitely has an affect! Any other tips to make the bloating go down?

My fave way of cooking chicken when trying to be a little healthier is in the slow cooker so I’m not tempted to eat the skin. I tried it upside down this time so all the juices ran into the best bits however in theory it was harder to remove the meat as all the best bits were under the bones! Trial & error but still amazingly delicious, it falls from the bones so still a winner! (Topped with smoked paprika, celery salt, chipotle chilli flakes & fresh tarragon. Snuggled underneath is butternut squash, shallots & Garlic. Makes the best stock!)
I am loving the meditative aspect of preparing slow food. I've been preparing these garbanzo beans for hummus. First they soaked in lemon water for 24 hours, then last night I hulled each bean which took a good 45 mins. There was something nourishing in that quiet time spent bonding with my food. I think this is what it means to cook with love, its to put care, patience and intention into what you choose to nourish you.
#legoflamb .. Thought about a roast but figured it'll do a nice slow cooked Rezala. It's like a nutty, caramelized, a bit sweet, bit creamy and fragrant curry we do in Bangladesh! .
Added the bones earlier on to get the oils and the marrow into the mix, let it break down.. and you can add every flavour and spices as it slow-cooks!
Plain Basmati rice and this. Done. 🤙🏽
