Day 3 My Best Nine, 2018 was a good year, made some friends, but lost a few as well, made some cool stuff and learned a lot about myself, also made some stuff nobody will ever see... those were some of the lessons I also learned, sometimes we make really pretty kindling and that’s ok as well. Thanks to everyone who liked, shared and commented on my work... I find this is a very positive community and glad to be part of it. Cheers. #happythursday#kitchentable#cooking#cheflife#mybestnine#friends

Passion, Remembering & Bowls. Grab a tea this might get long. .
Do you ever go back to your original "why" ~ why you started your business? The reason that you thought of your business idea in the first place? Why you fell in love with the thing that you do? Sometimes we get so caught up in the working on our business and working in our business that we forget where it all started! .
Today I wanted to go back to that. I needed to go back to that. I never want to lose my passion for what I do. As I contemplate all the pieces of my business that are important for success, yet take me away from where the passion lies, I wanted to remember. Remember what the making feels like without the agenda, without the orders. I think doing this is as important or even more important to keep our business alive and healthy. .
Bowls. They are my favorite thing to make, they come easily to me on the wheel and they are pretty darn versatile. Making these bowls today allowed all of the feelings to come flooding back. I remembered. I feel rejuvenated. .
The new theory that pottery is the new yoga is sometimes a hard one to grasp, especially if you're new to the wheel. But today I have completely zoned out, gone into a meditative state. Not thinking about design, shape or colour. Just enjoying the process. Just being. .
This has truly filled my soul. And to think, I almost forgot the why. I almost forgot that feeling of passion.
Just like we need to schedule in our self care, we need to schedule in our passion.
Much love to you all!
Nothing like cleaning up the @ridgidpowertools sanding belt.
I was surprised by a recent @britt.builds post how some people still don’t know of this wizardry.
I got mine from harbour freight. Sure helped cleaning the belt after working on 100+ jenga pieces
As many of my readers may know, it was close to two years ago that I was diagnosed with cancer. Today, I am happy to say that I am healthy and well.
This post is not meant to be a pity party but to help people become comfortable with the idea of "wellness". Last year I had finally publicly shared my health journey since being diagnosed and even my health journey since I was a child. I remember actually being scared to share my story thinking that people would judge me as a nutritionist as if I somehow failed or wasn't a good nutritionist because I had gotten cancer. I now know how ridiculous that sounds now but I blamed myself for everything that had happened.
Over the past two years I have had to take medication multiple times (the lesser of two evils), had deal with everyone's reactions (even though I knew they were coming from a good place), question if I should pursue my nutrition practice before I knew whether or not I would need more serious treatments, try to grasp the idea that I may have to deal with this for the rest of my life, and finally create my own definition of wellness in order to come to terms with everything (which is always a work in progress). I still have a lot of work to do and there are still times when I feel guilty for doing/eating certain things, I often feel pressured by others who don't understand my health issues, and I think about how I wish this never happened.
Remember, this isn't just about me. If you remember from my last post, I emphasized that there is no one singular definition for wellness. Wellness is something you define for yourself. Achieve it how you may but don't compare yourself to others during the process. Wellness isn't only abs, green smoothies and yoga. It can be all of those, some of those or none of those for you. Take ownership of however you define wellness.

Love my nighttime routine with this little munchkin. She was so full of beans tonight dancing around but settled so quick as soon as we brought the books out. This is one of our favs from @lorynbrantz#feministbaby

Two weeks from tomorrow until we open for *2019*!!
We'll, I guess it's time to accept the holidays are over and to start posting again :) We had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful winter wedding over the holidays in a super charming little town that reminded me of Stars Hallow! 😍
