"If natural beauty and driving gives your orgasm, then Meghalaya is the state for both."
Meghalaya was my next destination after the Hornbills festival and Dzukhou valley trek. After coming down from the trek, a pastor from Vishwema, Villo Naleo (amazing guy) was kind enough to give me a ride all the way to Kohima from where I took a shared cab to Dimapur. From Dimapur, I took the Dimapur Guwhati Rajdhani (amongst the various trains running on this route) and reached Guwhati early morning on 9th December 2018.
There are multiple ways to reach Meghalaya. There is an airport in Shillong and the nearest railway station is in Guwhati. But the best way is by road from Guwhati. I rented a self driven car from Bube Rides amongst the various options like Zoomcar, Awe Rides, Fab Cars etc available. I got an almost new Swift Dezire at ₹2000 per day.
I was stunningly shocked as to how the entire state of Meghalaya is well knit with super smooth highways with beautiful surroundings.
My first stop was Jiva Veg @jiva_vegetarianfood at Nangpoh which is one of the best vegetarian restaurants doing justice to all the cuisines. After the hearty lunch and black coffee (since I had to drive), I crossed Umiam and Jowai on NH-6 to reach Krangshuri Waterfalls. The picturesque drive of 185kms took me 5 hours.
After climbing down some steps, I was shocked to see the turquoise blue colours of this crystal clear waterfall. Meghalaya is very famous for waterfalls in general, but this one seemed like straight from the photoshopped wallpapers.

I'm so proud & brave! 😅
I rented a car - for the first time in my life! In a country with left-hand-traffic and where I can't read a single sign. 🙈
Right now I'm on my first stop and I'm fine (the car as well!)
In the beginning i was so confused why the windscreen wiper always turns on when I'm about to blink until I realized i never blinked.. As the blinker is on the other side than I'm used to.. 🙄 😅🤣 #rentalcar#proudandbrave#meandmycar#lefthandtraffic#lefties
