What?🤔 - Yep - when I first went full plant based I tracked a few days of eating my old diet which I considered to be pretty healthy - and I was short on calcium - I was getting about 70% of what I should daily - doesn’t sound like much but over decades that has repercussions. - How on earth was I deficient in calcium? - When I tracked my new plant based diet I was 200% OVER target! WTF. - That’s because most of the best calcium sources are PLANT BASED. Jaw drop. - We’ve all been fooled by big budget dairy campaigns to believe that milk and cheese are calcium bombs and you can’t live without them - truth is they are nothing but cholesterol bombs. - Again - I would stress - going vegan is not a miracle fix - the KEY is a balanced diet packed with plant based whole foods - REAL FOOD IS A GIFT.💚 - Don’t always believe what you read and see on TV - do your own research! 🙏 - Sam (smashing calcium targets) Frith 💪

INGREDIENTS 4 (6-oz.) salmon fillets Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper 1/2 (8-oz.) block cream cheese, softened 1/2 c. shredded mozzarella 1/2 c. frozen spinach, defrosted 1/4 tsp. garlic powder Pinch red pepper flakes 2 tbsp. butter Juice of 1/2 lemon Season salmon all over with salt and pepper. In a large bowl, mix together cream cheese, mozzarella, spinach, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Using a paring knife, slice a slit in each salmon to create a pocket. Stuff pockets with cream cheese mixture. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add salmon skin side down and cook until seared, about 6 minutes, then flip salmon. Add butter and squeeze lemon juice all over. Cook until skin is crispy, another 6 minutes. Serve warm . TAG YOUR FRIENDS WHO WOULD LOVE THIS 😍

This, my friends, is why for the first time in human history, there are more overweight people walking the earth than underweight. Why might this be? Well for one, our planted landmass in the United States is largely taken up by wheat, corn and soy production. We eat much of these subsidized crops, but also a lot of it is refined into oils and sugar that is then fed to cows (which also get a hefty subsidy.) . 5% of the planted landmass in the United States is dedicated to growing vegetables, which is perhaps one reason why they're relatively so expensive! 90% of Americans do not consume enough of them, according to the CDC, and may explain why the same proportion is deficient in at least one vitamin or mineral. . When you consider the research showing how one large daily salad (something I'm an advocate for and talk about in my book Genius Foods) might actually prevent brain aging, it becomes evident that society seems to want youthful, high performance brains to be a privilege of the upper class. Maybe that’s it’s way of maintaining the status quo. But I think we can change that. What say you? . I know that there’s no way everyone there was vegan but they were still there enjoying plantbased food ☺️Taken with my brand new CAMERA and while I got some looks for snapping away, I also felt extremely legit. Not so proud for eating way too much sushi for dinner tonight 😰🍣 how do y’all get past a binge, or find grace for yourself when you feel like you kind of messed up? My first reaction is to beat myself mentally up and tell myself that I just ruined any progress I had going. But I really don’t want to do that any more. Sometimes you eat too much at a meal. It’s life! Trying to find grace and patience for myself in the process. 🙏🏼💕

But, once you load your Nachos with tons of wholesome toppings, that thin layer of crispy chips become a mere vehicle for deliciousness and nutritiousness. These homemade #protein and #veggiepacked #Nachos made for a quick, fun and satisfying Friday night dinner, using up the #leftovers we had in the fridge. The kids didn’t even notice the cauliflower crumbled up in there. This is a gonna be a #familyfavourite! Here’s what I used: #Shreddedcheese Pre cooked #cauliflower Leftover corn cut off the cob #Leftoverchicken shredded Needed-to-be-used avocados Paired with a quick cabbage and carrot slaw, some quick pickle radishes and jalapeños, a dollop of salsa, Greek yogurt and guacamole for dipping, and you have a complete plate. I’ve also done these with things like leftover taco meat, leftover shredded pork or beef, black beans, olives, cooked broccoli, chopped tomatoes, and more. Have you made homemade nachos?   • I knew this week would catch up to me...today sucked 😫 If you’re stubborn like me, it can be hard to keep a level head when training. I always say I won’t let myself slip back into my old ways of over training, yet every once in a while I let my pride get the best of me. I had SIX EPIC WORKOUTS this past week...in a row! Just 2 days ago I picked up 325 followed by 3 backdown sets of 275 for 5 (shown)...today I wanted to cry while doing crappy box squats at 225. Did I listen to my body and stop? No, I told myself I was “weak”, kept lifting, and ended up getting a migraine to the point my vision was blurred (sorry mom if you’re reading this and getting worried 😬). . The important part- today I programmed an active recovery day. I didn’t have anything strict planned in my program but knew I was due for an easy day. Instead, I ignored that completely, tried to keep up my momentum from the week, went in already sore & fatigued, and tried to squat heavy. It did not go well. Now my training is probably going to be thrown off for a few days whereas if I rested like I was supposed to I would’ve been fine. Did I learn from this? Yes. Will I do it all again? Probably. You can’t change your ways overnight, but for right now focus on following your program, trust the process, try to avoid becoming an ego lifter 😅, and be patient for the gains.

If you know me at all, you know I love chips and salsa, crunchy snacks, and crispy veggies. : : (Insert profanity here) : : Typically, I am not a fan of liquid diets because: • With a liquid diet, there’s typically no education. The administer says to “drink this and you’ll lose X amount of weight.” • Because there’s TYPICALLY not a lot of education, when people get off of their liquid diet, every pound that was lost tends to come back. When it comes to a diet or a preferred way of eating for results, it’s important that you go for something that has long-term results, educates you in the process, and is not reliant SOLELY on one substance. ____ With that being said, I am so grateful for #herbalife right now. Without having access to their products, I would be stressing out over how I’m going to get my protein and micronutrients in, what I can ACTUALLY eat, freak out that I will not be fueled for my workouts, and lose any muscle that I have gained over the past few months. _____ This is not an #ad. This is me saying to EDUCATE yourself on how to hit your goals NO MATTER WHAT LIFE THROWS AT YOU.
