//EVERY GREAT MIND NEEDS A MUSE: Michelle Obama and Sitcom// Now one of the most admired women in the world, Michelle Obama’s newly released memoir “Becoming” further fuelled her image as every woman’s role model. For her, her early enlightenment on feminism surprisingly came from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the popular American sitcom in the 70s. She recalled watching the show with her family as young as age 10. It was a Saturday ritual: her family watched Mary Tyler Moore while eating dessert. “She was one of the few single working women depicted on television at the time. I saw that and sort of started thinking, ‘You know what? Marriage is an option. Having a family is an option. And going to school and getting your education and building your career is another really viable option that can lead to happiness and fulfilment.” ------------------------------------------------
