  • Weightlifting Wednesday Shout out to @ivanprodanov4 who’s been working position and tech work religiously for the past two months, he’s slowly but surely moving up the food chain. More often enough when you start your weightlifting journey and have a significant strength back ground it can be hard to “feel” or gauge the amount of weight on an empty barbell from the floor. “Creating tension” from the ground is tricky and needs to practiced. Ivan still started with an empty barbell BUT in order to combat his massive strength background we opted to use some hover snatches which in turn allows the user to gauge a minimum amount of load from the hang first. We lower the barbell to two inches off the floor to mimmic a very similar starting position from the floor. Key difference is the right muscles are engaged and activated already. Starting from the floor as a beginner is tough and this movement is a very useful tool to develop barbell awareness, proprioception and general leg strength.
