In my world, I give my own family and clients herbs that work with fever instead of suppress it's actions.
Fever is the body's immune response to infection. The hypothalamus releases chemicals that tell the body to increase core temperature, as some parts of the immune system work better at higher temperatures. ☀️
I also highly support Bob Flaws' hypothesis that fever is a rite of passage for the immune system and a growing child (I have seen this in adults as well). Over and over I have seen children make leaps and bounds in development after illness with fever. Fever seems to support adults as well, as the time to sit with ourselves and "burn off" the old is conducive to the inner world. (Unless, of course, the fever is dangerously high. In this case, medical intervention may be needed.)
Fevers can have either a "hot" or "cold" energy and it is very important to give herbs that have the correct energetics. ☀️
Current herbs in the shop that I'm loving for combating illness via antiviral, antibacterial, or immune regulating/stimulating pathways:
Wild St. John's Wort, Wild Monarda Clinopodia, Wild Usnea, Wild Ground Ivy, Wild Reishi Mushroom. 🍄 ✨ 🌻 To check out these herbs and more, visit the link in my bio. 🌈 ✨
