Goals for 2019: go outside more.
As my aspiration to compete the Appalachian Trail grows, I am putting my hands into nature more and living outside as much as possible. I have already done so much in this first half-month of January 2019 and I genuinely can’t wait to see how much more I will achieve!
So anyone viewing my stories today will have seen that I went for a run AND went to the gym. Not very interesting I know, but what IS interesting (or at least I think so!) is how it came about. My workload seems to have gone off the scale right now... a mixture of being busy with in person sessions, my new online programme starting and a few fab collaborations I’m working on too. And whilst I’m feeling focused fitness (and nutrition) wise, I’m also struggling to break away from my work to exercise. But today I decided to post about feeling like I wanted to run in my stories but it was too windy. Without really knowing it, I became accountable. And so I got stuck into my work, aware of my next pt session but also aware of this potential run. Which slowly turned into a definite run as I’d pretty much said that I would do it. So out I went. I’d gone one step further to say I’d then go to the gym to do my weights, quite enjoying this new found accountability. Low and behold after my pt session, I raced to the gym for a quick 30 minutes before school pick up (I’ve done a Vlog about this too on my Fb page ‘Feel Good Fitness with Carly’... not that I’m making a fuss! 😂). The point of this story? That thinking or jotting down your intentions is one thing, letting others know about them is another altogether. It’s what my brand new online programme is all about. You’re much more likely to see them through once you’ve announced them... no-one likes to talk and not ‘do’ after all 😉. Why not give it a go? How would your words and actions change if you changed "You should...., You have to...." into "You are allowed to..., You deserve...." ? .
Sometimes it completely changes my course of action! "You should clean the bathroom" ----> "You deserve to take a bath."
Sometimes the action stays the same, but my attitude and emotions change for the better. "You need to do an hour of Pilates." ---> "You are allowed to take an hour for your Pilates practice."

What you do when your little is upset?
I am trying to teach Kristof that anger and upsetness are normal emotions to have. He is not having any crazy tantrums (maybe I should say yet). But there are moments I see him rolling on the floor looking like the world just crashed down. And I'm holding myself not to say things like: "Don't cry. Nothing happened. It will be ok." Instead, I let him process it. Let him know it's ok to be angry and upset.
Everybody wants to be happy, but we all know we can't be happy all the time, right? There have to be moments of anger or sadness. That's just life. And it helps us value the happy times.
