  • The Sunday Debate! Let's talk about Cotton, what's your thoughts?⠀ There is a lot of mixed reviews about cotton since the @sjdooley documentary, we all know the positives of cotton, it's soft, it breathable, it's natural and biodegradable. However it does take a lot of water to produce the crop, and is often grown in countries that don't have a lot of rainfall, not to mention if pesticides are used then a lot of chemicals can make their way into our waterways, but what are the alternatives? Cotton is the Number 1 used fibre in the world, with Polyester not far behind it. A lot of fabrics seem to have a positive and a negative side (apart from hemp haha). What other natural fabrics would you say are a more sustainable alternative? And do you think these fabrics are readily available for mass use? Keep the convo fun and friendly, lets learn from each other!⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #lucyandyak #ethics #ethical #sustainablefashion #sustainable #sundaydebate #cotton #environment #fabrics

  • Sure there's a difference. There's a difference between a cat and dog too. But in all that matters pigs and dogs are the SAME. Both have the ability to feel love and joy, pain and suffering, both have the ability to connect and form bonds with humans. Both want to live. Despite the differences we have been told exist, we need to start treating all animals the same. If you wouldn't eat a dog then don't eat a pig (or a cow or chicken) ❤❤Dig These Pig Facts❤❤ Pigs dream and see in color. Pigs outperform 3-year-old human children on cognition tests and are smarter than any domestic animal, and animal experts consider them more trainable than cats or dogs. Pigs are naturally slender. They only become fat when humans overfeed them. Pigs are sociable. They like to cuddle and snuggle up, nose to nose, with one another as they sleep. In the wild, pigs live in matriarchal societies, as elephants do. Piglets love to chase each other, play-fight, and roll down hills. Pigs can be picky eaters: When given the same food, even a favorite one, such as melon or banana, over and over, they will soon set them aside and eat their other food first. When pigs are offered a new food, they don’t gobble it right up, as a dog might, but sniff at it delicately as they decide whether or not to try a nibble. Pigs are hygienic. When given the chance, they are more particular about their sanitary behavior than most dogs. They will not, unless locked inside a factory-farm cage, defecate anywhere near their living space. Pigs roll in mud to cool down and ward off parasites and sunburn, just as elephants do. . . #maketheconnection #govegan #vegansofinstagram #vegansofig #veganism #friendsnotfood #veganaf #bacon #veganshare #thesavemovement #savethepigs #pigsofinstagram #loveallanimals #ilovepigs #eatingmeatisweird #pork #endanimalcruelty #🌱 #peaceforanimals #cubeoftruth #animalrights #rightsforallanimals #samedifference #veganactivism #veganactivist #someonenotsomething #anonymousforthevoiceless #ethics #peta #veganislove

  • DAY 237: I've gone a bit down the rabbit hole trying to figure out #ethicalapproval for #DELTAproject (Day 105 and 236!) and what steps to take to secure it for the different stages. It's almost like a hydra where I finish off one task, only for it to result in several more needing to be ticked off. The more I read about procedure the more new rules and paperwork I unearth. So far I've been applying to two different RECs ( #researchethics committees); #university #ethics for my #focusgroups with #memoryclinic staff (Day 206!) and #NHS ethics for my #interviews with memory clinic service users and for my validation study of the ACE-III Urdu UK (Day 18 and 28!). Because of this I would need to do two different applications for #HRAApproval as well, which is another additional and unavoidable approval that is needed. Upon reading further on #researchgovernance I'm debating combining it all into one giant but singular application to be reviewed by the NHS REC only that will simultaneously undergo just the one HRA Approval. This means no extra paper trail and I'm not appealing to an extra REC body. I'm hoping this might make the process simpler but it's still in the works and has to be supervisor approved. #DOMEproject #phdlife #phdchat #ecrlife #ecrchat #academiclife #academicchat #academics #postgrad #research #recked

  • Stop copying popular people. (You don’t think everyone notices 🤯🤯🤯). Instead, get to work and test yourself. Test that the work you are doing is what you truly want, and get to busy creating your masterpiece. Over and over. Start creating and mastering your own craft; to precision. • Do you know the difference between non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (NPAFP) and polio paralysis? "...while India has been polio-free for a year, there has been a huge increase in non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (NPAFP). In 2011, there were an extra 47,500 new cases of NPAFP. Clinically indistinguishable from polio paralysis, but twice as deadly, the incidence of NPAFP was directly proportional to doses of oral polio received." • Yesterday we gave away free @valkyriedoughnuts to show our student body just how good cruelty free can be! • All we asked is if people loved the donuts, to tell @dunkin donuts to ditch their dairy and eggs. Stop by their store and let them know, dm them, or tweet at them! Cruelty is not an essential ingredient to make an incredible donut. • Let’s. Make. A. Change. Knights!💛

  • “I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. . I make mistakes, I'm out of control, and at times hard to handle. . But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” . -Marilyn Monroe . . . You know your true north . . You are ready to use your inner compass and chart your path . . But before you complete your map you must understand... . . You not only cannot know all that you will encounter . . But you must NOT know . . Yes, set your intentions, your expectations . . But your journey is not yours alone . . Your path will unfold beautifully . . Love is here to complete your course . Love will be your guide . Love can see where you cannot . Love already knows your journey . Love will bring you peace, comfort and healing with every pitfall . Love will guide you through darkness with its light . Love will hold your hand, joining you, every step of the way . . You have nothing to fear . . Love will not abandon you . . . Love accepts you at worst and your best . . Yes, you will fall, but you will also take a stand . . Yes, you will hurt and be hurt, but your heart will also be stronger and more courageous with each blow, each lesson . . And yes, you will absolutely know more joy and bliss, but you will NOT be fully in control of how a life beyond your dreams becomes manifest . . But it is time to take your first steps . . And you still have the freedom to decide . . Love has already found you worthy . . Will you take the first step? . . Love is kind . . LOVE WILL NOT LET YOU FAIL . Decide to take the journey, . And love WILL be there to direct your course . . ALWAYS . . 🔥❤️🔥 . . GUIDANCE: It is easier to think we control love but honestly we don’t. Love is boundless and its connections truly infinite. We are all tied to each other and yet some people we have unique connections with, stronger bonds, that can truly be effortless but also outside of our control. We can create and set expectations for ourselves, intend a particular life, make decisions. However, the greatest gifts to us are often the path we could not have seen, the person we never knew we would love, the life we could not imagine...so trust ❤️

A time when it was challenging to know who was a farmer today, an enemy combatant tomorrow, and a farmer the next day. In our latest podcast episode, we share stories of combat situations in which military members have to make a decision that is an ethical dilemma. Go listen to Episode-167 where a AFSOC PJ, an SFOD-D operator, a Army Ranger sniper, a Sapper/EOD Tech., and an Armor/Cav. soldier take this subject head on. ___ Search Mentors4mil on your favorite podcast app. Hit up the bio link. • "My first job in this country was working with children but when they needed help with homework, I couldn't do that because of the language barrier. I studied to be a teacher in Cuba and did that for a while, but after work I would take care of a neighbor there. She was an older woman, her son died young, and she had no family. I looked after her until she passed away. So, when I came to this country, since I didn't know English well enough to work with children, I thought being a caretaker for seniors would be similar in many ways and there are lots of Spanish speaking seniors. I always liked children and seniors—they are very alike in many ways.” #BayAlarmMedical

  • I had a patient just ask me about dermal fillers, telling me she doesn’t want to look fake, or even obvious that she’s had any. I don’t do fake and I don’t do exaggerated. As a health professional you’re not just paying for a procedure but a professional service that must be in your best interest- being a non-essential procedure, anti wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers etc all mean that for me, “first do no harm” is imperative as they still carry risks and side effects, in the most experienced hands. And the more we distort anatomy, the more potential for problems. Plus, my patients are an advertisement for my work- I don’t want to be known for trout pouts and fake faces. #cosmeticdoctor #ethics #donoharm @beaute_call @oolala_salon @martinplace
