  • Things no one talks about with having a baby, part 294717: weight. — About 8 years ago, I spent close to a year of my life losing 60 lbs. Today, I’m 3 lbs away from my highest weight. I hate it. I despise it. I loathe it with every bit of my being. — Not all of that gain was done during my pregnancy... over the course of 4 years from 2014-2018, surgeries, major depressive/anxiety, plus some major stressors made me lose sight of my health and I gained around 35 lbs. Pregnancy, in the course of 9 months, made me gain a total of 45 more. Some of that was water/baby weight, so I lost about 30 immediately postpartum, and started to work on losing more. — Then, the PPD+PPA kicked in full force. The medications they tried me on initially made me gain a total of 8 lbs in about 7 weeks, and my loss of sense of self drove me to forget about my health. That’s one major downside of trying to find the right medication when you’re extremely sensitive to medications overall. — So, here I am. After working my ass off to lose 60 lbs, after becoming a distance runner and completing multiple half marathons and a full marathon, after successfully completing 9 high peaks so far in the Adirondacks... I’m literally back to square one. — This is one major reason I’ve been struggling so badly with PPD. I felt like pregnancy took every last bit of who I was away from me. It’s hard to see all of that progress disappear, like you never even tried. When in reality, I tried damn hard to maintain my health. — As time goes on, things are getting easier in almost every way. I’m slowly working on getting a schedule in place for myself so I can have guaranteed workout and meal planning time and not feel anxious about if/when I’ll be able to exercise. Not only do I want my health back for myself, but also to maintain a healthy lifestyle for Ev to grow up with. — I’m finally learning that pregnancy didn’t rob me of myself. Pregnancy just challenged me to be strong. It challenged me to not give up when things get tough. It challenged me to continue to strive to be the person I want to be. — So here’s to working towards better health, mentally & physically to feel like myself again. 💪🏻

  • ⁣TELL ME!! 👉 How did your dog(s) get their name? ⠀ ⠀ Were they named after a movie character? ... A favorite sports player? Many of you know this is my FAVE question to ask! I see so many unique and fun names on our bandanas, I’m always curious 💕⠀ ⠀ Of course, I’ll share our dog’s name stories: Ripley was named after Ellen Ripley, the badass lead heroine in the Alien movies, and Rue was named after the little girl in the Hunger Games ( I was reading the books at the time 😜). ⠀ ⠀ Your turn!! 👇👇⠀
