  • ”Everyone needs time to develop their dreams. An egg in a nest doesn’t become a bird overnight” Lois Ehlert. This quote is not only perfect for this paper nest (vessel), but for my current place in life. Not completely sure where all my art these days is taking me, but I do know it’s unfolding into something beautiful. Day 13/100 of Exploring vessels with @milkhousestudio and @cowley5915 #dream

  • It’s second semester and my favorite time of the year in my drawing and painting class. After an intensive first semester of drawing it is now time to introduce them to oil painting. We will be spending the rest of the year learning the basics of oil painting starting from life of course 😉 #oiloncanvas #artteachers #artteacher #painting #create #art

  • THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE INITIATIVE est. November 2018 . . The “Teacher’s Lounge” has been one of the biggest contributors to my growth as an educator. As a new teacher without an education background, I’ve had many moments where I just needed to ask questions, bounce ideas off of someone or simply needed to be in a safe space with fellow educators, and the “Teacher’s Lounge” created that for me. . . I can’t express how important the “Teacher’s Lounge” has been and how much it has benefited myself and my students. Each time I have been to a “teacher’s lounge” meeting, Mr. Jones has not only provided answers to questions that I never knew I had, he has also provided me with the tools to appropriately self-reflect and assess myself inside and outside of the classroom. He always provides us with questions that will help take us to the next steps, as well as reference materials that can be used throughout your career. It is evident that Mr. Jones not only has a passion for education but also for the educator. . . My top 3 takeaways from the “Teacher’s Lounge” are understanding the importance of owning your classroom, teaching beyond the lesson/subject and self-care. In just a few short months, these three lessons have allowed me to face self-doubt, fight through burnout, and have a better understanding of my why. . . Having a safe space where both new and seasoned educators can come together to learn and grow, benefits the educator, the students and the overall school environment. I am forever grateful that Mr. Jones created the “Teacher’s Lounge” and would recommend anyone in the education field to join! . . “The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. • Thanks for all the interest in my Castle Weaving project. I have done a few different variations of this over the years, from Jack and the Beanstalk, to ones where the doors open. It’s always a huge hit with the kiddos. Make sure you pop over to @2art.chambers and see how they have adapted this and included turrets 😍. I think we will add turrets when we do this next.
